高市早苗首相は21日、首相官邸で記者団の取材に応じ、自身の台湾有事に関する国会答弁をめぐって中国側が反発を強めていることについて、「中国については先月末、私と習(シー)(近平・国家)主席との間で戦略的互恵関係の包括的推進と、建設的かつ安定的な関係の構築という大きな方向性を確認しており、こうした考えに一切変わりはない」と述べた。
首相は7の衆院予算委員会で、台湾有事について「戦艦を使って、武力の行使も伴うものであれば、これはどう考えても存立危機事態になりうるケースだと私は考える」と述、歴代の政府見解を踏み越えて答弁。中国側は首相の発言の撤回を要求し、日本産水産物の事実上の輸入停止措置を取るなど日本への経済的圧力を強めている。
首相はこの日、「いかなる事態が存立危機事態に該当するかということについては、実際に発生した事態の個別具体的な状況に即して政府が全ての情報を総合的に判断する。こうした説明は、平和安全法制(安全保障法制)成立当時の安倍(晋三元)首相以来、政府としては繰り返し述べてきた通りだ。私自身も、この答弁を繰り返し申し上げており、政府の立場は一貫している」と語った。
