落選の公明・石井代表が辞任を表明 来月9日に新代表選出へ
衆院選で落選した公明党の石井啓一代表(66)は31日午前、党本部で開いた党中央幹事会で代表を辞任すると表明した。石井氏は「非常に厳しい選挙結果となったのは、代表である私の責任だ」と述べた。新代表は9日に開かれる臨時党大会で選出される。
公明党は大阪の4選挙区で全敗するなど、公示前から8議席減らす24議席と大敗した。石井氏も比例北関東ブロックから埼玉14区へ移り立候補したが、落選した。現職の代表が落選したのは2009年の太田昭宏氏以来となった。
石井氏は「代表は国会論戦を通じて党の考え方を表明する役割がある」と辞任の理由を説明。山口那津男前代表の後任として9月28日に就任してから、約1カ月での辞任となる。西田実仁幹事長は続投する。
公明党規約では、代表が任期途中で辞任した場合、党中央幹事会の推薦を経て、党大会で信任する。後任には斉藤鉄夫国土交通相や岡本三成政調会長らの名前が挙がっている。(川辺真改)
